The oceans are made with crushed Bahama Blue gem stones. The 25 semi precious stones were selected from countries around the world and, where possible, show the country of origin. The longitude (vertical lines), latitude (horizontal lines ) and the international date line are shown in a fine silver thread. Globe is coated with several coats of clear lacquer to protect and provide it with unique luster and shine.  United States is represented in different color gem stones.
