Item # 55505 *Francisco Vasquez de Coronado was the head of an expedition in 1540, which explored the southwestern parts of today's USA. Participants were ordered back to Mexico in 1542 in order to fight in the Mixton Rebellion, it was already over by the time they got back. The expedition was a failure and essentially bankrupted Coronado, who retired to Mexico City in 1554. |
