Trippensee®
Planetariums – Manual & Motorized Models
The Trippensee® Manual Planetarium (EL-400) and the
Motorized Planetarium (item #
EL- 500) are classic
orreries designed to demonstrate the motions of the Earth,
Moon, Venus, and Sun. Both models perform the same
functions, but the motorized version includes a spring wire
connection to the red arm, which powers the planetary system
to revolve around the Sun automatically.
Built with durable gear and ladder chain drives, these
planetariums provide smooth, reliable operation. The Earth
maintains its 23.5° tilt, rotates on its axis, and revolves
around the Sun - while the Moon orbits the Earth, always
keeping one face turned toward it. Venus also revolves
around the Sun and can be positioned by hand to show its
phases and its place as the morning or evening star.
Demonstrated Phenomena:
* Phases of the Moon
* Solar and lunar eclipses
* Causes of night and day
* Changing seasons across Earth
* Reasons for summer and winter
* Solstices and equinoxes
* Earth’s axis and its relationship to the North Star
* Tides and their causes
* Equator, latitude, longitude, and meridians
For over 90 years, Trippensee planetariums have been trusted
science teaching models for schools, libraries, museums and
homes. Their chain-and-gear mechanism ensures long-lasting
performance, making them an unmatched resource for anyone
eager to explore the solar system in motion.
Perfect for classrooms, home learning, and astronomy
enthusiasts.
